     The Institute of Transportation Studies (ITS) and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory increased their national footprint in April when several delegates attended the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Big Ideas Summit April 21-22, 2016 in Washington, DC to discuss important future problems in the field of energy.

     Driving the next generation of deep automotive perception research, UC Berkeley Partners for Advanced Transportation Technology (PATH) recently launched the Berkeley DeepDrive (BDD) Industry Consortium to investigate state-of-the-art technologies merging computer vision and machine learning for automotive applications.

     Key representatives from the four Institutes of Transportation Studies from the University of California system, key private and public transportation organizations and the University of California Office of the President came together in Sacramento this week to talk about the future of transportation at an informational hearing for the California State Assembly Transportation Committee.

    The American Automatic Control Council has awarded ITS Berkeley affiliate Assistant Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering Scott Moura and Graduate Student Researcher in the Energy, Controls, and Applications Laboratory (eCAL) Hector Perez the 2016 O. Hugo Schuck Best Paper Award.
