     In late March and April, Institutes of Transportation Studies at UC Berkeley, Davis, Irvine and Los Angeles will be presenting a series of policy forums at the UC Center Sacramento. This series presents the latest thinking and scientific insights on a range of transportation challenges facing our state and nation.

    UC Berkeley graduate students Anthony Barrs and Baiyu Chen were awarded the top prize and $50,000 for their design at the Infrastructure Vision 2050 Challenge, hosted by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers in Las Vegas. The competition solicited design solutions that could address some of the biggest challenges facing the United States' infrastructure system.

    The TE Open House culminates with an ITS Seminar: “The Trump Administration on Transport: A New Era in Planning, Infrastructure, and Governance” in 290 Hearst Memorial Mining Building at 3:30 pm on April 3.

    Private and public transportation partners, including PATH, conducted a partially automated truck platooning demonstration in California Wednesday at the Los Angeles Port complex and along the Interstate 110 freeway.

    The Institute of Transportation Studies is deeply saddened to say that J. Karl Hedrick, James Marshall Wells Academic Chair and Professor of Mechanical Engineering, passed away on Feb. 22, 2017 after a long battle with lung cancer. He was 72 years old.

    Robert P. Wadell, distinguished alumnus and ITS Advisory Council at Berkeley member has made a generous $500K donation to establish the Robert P. Wadell Endowed Fellowship for Civil Engineering Innovation. His gift was matched with $500K from Berkeley’s Graduate Division.
