Balancing Mobility and Accessibility

Satisfying the competing demands of automobility and accessibility requires transportation policy-making, strategic planning and system designs that are sensitive to the potential conflicts inherent in these two visions.

Cities where they have been successfully balanced and combined are most often in developing and rapidly industrializing settings. Center researchers are working with international partners to provide technical assistance and training to urban and regional transportation planning organizations in economic and financial policies, as well as engineering technologies that can accomplish these goals.
