Congratulations to recent UC Berkeley Civil and Environmental Engineering Ph.D. and ITS Berkeley graduate Zhe Fu, who was selected as the WTS San Francisco Chapter recipient of the 2026 Bridgette Beato Leadership Legacy Graduate Scholarship. Fu received the scholarship at the WTS San Francisco awards ceremony on May 21, the same day as UC Berkeley’s Ph.D. graduation ceremony.
The Bridgette Beato Leadership Legacy Graduate Scholarship recognizes graduate students pursuing careers in transportation who demonstrate strong leadership, a commitment to community service, and an interest in advancing innovation in the transportation field. The WTS San Francisco Chapter awards a number of scholarships to students across several categories as part of its efforts to support the next generation of transportation professionals.
Fu’s research focuses on learning, control, and modeling for mixed-autonomy transportation systems. Her work explores how machine learning and control strategies can improve traffic mobility, reduce congestion, and decrease energy consumption.
This Fall, Fu is a 2026 Energy Fellow in Sustainable Transportation at Stanford University.
