Zhe Fu is the recipient of the 2026 outstanding Graduate Peer Mentor Award. Advised by Professor Alexandre Bayen at the Berkeley Artificial Intelligence research (BAIR) lab, Zhe’s work sits at the intersection of learning, control and modeling for complex cyber physical systems with a particular focus on mixed autonomy.

Her research advances physics-informed neural modeling of distributed parameter systems and integrates both model-based and data-driven control approaches, validated through large-scale real-world experiments. Notably, she was a key contributor to a 100-autonomous-vehicle field test on the I-24 highway, demonstrating how intelligent control strategies can mitigate traffic congestion.

Through her dedication to both academic excellence and community support, Zhe exemplifies the spirit of mentorship and innovation that this award celebrates.
