Congratulations to Jasenka Rakas, NEXTOR III Deputy Director and a faculty member in Civil and Environmental Engineering, on being selected to the MAIA External Experts Advisory Board, supported by EUROCONTROL
MAIA, MULTIMODAL ACCESS FOR INTELLIGENT AIRPORTS, is a research project under the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation program that brings together the resources and expertise of civil and military stakeholders, as well as EU institutions, to develop innovative technologies and operational methods that improve ATM performance.
Under the MAIA-UAM task, a vertiport site selection framework is being developed to support the implementation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) services in airport access, balancing passenger experience criteria with UAM operational constraints.
Rakas is part of an External Experts Advisory Board, advising the MAIA team on the vertiport site selection methods for Urban Air Mobility (i.e., Advanced Air Mobility) and their applications to European airports. Her expert opinion and participation in MAIA workshops will help the successful development and completion of this multi-year research project.
