UAVs @ Berkeley Take Second Overall at First Collegiate Drone Race

Congratulations to the UAV @ Berkeley team who came in second in the University Team competition at the first collegiate drone competition held at Purdue University, fully sanctioned by MultiGP, the largest professional drone racing league in the world, and The Academy of Model Aeronautics.

In just a few short years, the UAVs @ Berkeley club has gone from an idea to a thriving club with a workspace at the NEXTOR offices at ITS Berkeley. Now, five pilots will be comoeting in the first ever Collegiate Drone Racing National Championship at Purdue University April 15.

J. Karl Hedrick, Professor, Nonlinear Control Expert, 1944-2017

The Institute of Transportation Studies is deeply saddened to say that J. Karl Hedrick, James Marshall Wells Academic Chair and Professor of Mechanical Engineering, passed away on Feb. 22, 2017 after a long battle with lung cancer. He was 72 years old.

Robert P. Wadell, distinguished alumnus and ITS Advisory Council at Berkeley member has made a generous $500K donation to establish the Robert P. Wadell Endowed Fellowship for Civil Engineering Innovation. His gift was matched with $500K from Berkeley’s Graduate Division.

Trapenberg Frick Earns Award for Outstanding Advisor Award
