Chen Receives ITS CA-CTF Scholarship

Joyce CHenCongratulations to Civil and Environmental Engineering doctoral student Joyce Jiayu Chen for receiving a  2024 ITS California-CALIFORNIA TRANSPORTATION FOUNDATION Scholarship.

 "I am truly honored to receive the 2024 ITS California and CTF Scholarship Award. As an aspiring ITS researcher, I’m motivated to bring together interdisciplinary research findings to address the complex challenges in autonomous and electric vehicles, particularly in their safety and equity aspects. This scholarship is a meaningful validation of my efforts as I continue to pursue my research and teaching in transportation," says Chen.

The scholarship advances academic studies and careers in the field of ITS. Eligible students must be Masters/Ph.D. students in an accredited university in California, studying any ITS-related field including, for example, engineering, computer science, transportation planning, or public policy.

Chen is advised by CEE professor and Partners for Advanced Transportation Technology Faculty Director Scott Moura and PATH researcher Steven Shladover. Her research interests include public policy, intelligent transportation systems, automated vehicles and safety of driverless automated vehicles, and sustainable transportation.
