ITS Berkeley Transportation Seminar: If you build it (and share it), they will ride. Behind the scenes of a mighty corporate commute network — February 10, 2023
Lauren Bennett, Head of External Transportation Partnerships at Genentech, presented If you build it (and share it), they will ride. Behind the scenes of a mighty corporate commute network at the ITS Berkeley Transportation Seminar on February 10, 2023.
Abstract: Most people know of Genentech as a biotech pioneer, creating medicines for hard-to-treat diseases. Fewer people realize that it is also a transportation pioneer. In 1996, Genentech was the first campus to run corporate shuttles in the Bay Area, and our fleet was the first to go electric. Unlike other corporate shuttle programs, we are so committed to our sustainability efforts, we created a program to open our shuttles to all Oyster Point employers. This program provides many of them with a mass transportation option which would otherwise be too costly to support on their own while increasing the overall impact of our system.
Join us to understand:
Why Genentech decided to prioritize sustainability and sharing over a private Genentech-only shuttle program, and how we built a revolutionary cost-sharing model to create a greater impact across over 200 biotechs on the Oyster Point campus.
How we partner directly with the city of South San Francisco to finance and build the sustainable mobility infrastructure necessary to ensure a bright future.
This talk will be of interest to anyone who grew up loving SimCity and/or is passionate about building a beautiful, sustainable future. ;-)
