Congratualtions to California PATH, who has been awarded a U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) SMART grant for their innovative “I-40 TradePort Corridor Intelligent Data Platform” project.
The project, led by Bernalillo County, New Mexico, is a forward-looking initiative bringing- together leading experts, including researchers from UC Berkeley’s PATH program and transportation strategists from GLD Partners, to create a powerful digital framework that will transform how we manage and optimize travel along the I-40 corridor in New Mexico and Arizona.
In the first stage of the I40DTw project, the team will focus on planning and developing an intelligent data platform designed to support a future digital twin of the corridor. This digital twin will help transportation professionals and decision-makers address critical challenges—from improving safety and efficiency to reducing environmental impacts—by offering dynamic, data-driven insights into how traffic flows, freight moves, and infrastructure performs.
By laying a strong technical and collaborative foundation, the I40DTw project not only supports local and regional transportation priorities, but also helps position New Mexico and its neighboring states at the forefront of smart infrastructure planning and innovation. We look forward to sharing our progress and building a safer, more sustainable transportation future along the I-40 corridor.
