Congratulations to CATRes researchers Jing Xu,Mark Hansen, and Megan S. Ryerson on winning the Kevin Corker Award for the best overall paper at the US-Europe Air Transportation Research & Development Symposium 2025. Their study, “Identification and Characterization for Disruptions inthe U.S. National Airspace System" uses data sciencetechniques to identify typologies of disruptions, supporting a shift away from ad-hoc recoveryactions toward more systematic recovery protocols across the aviation system.
Jing Xu is a Ph.D. Candidate and Mark Hansen is a Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at theUniversity of California, Berkeley. Berkeley ITS alumna Megan Ryerson is the UPS Foundation Professor and Chair of the Department of City & Regional Planning at theUniversity of Pennsylvania. Drs. Hansen and Ryerson are PIs at CATRes, the Center for Air Transportation Resilience.
