Congratulations 2020 Graduates from ITS Berkeley

You made it to UC Berkeley, let the good times roll!

Open House

We met many of you at the Transportation Engineering and City and Regional Planning spring open houses.

Open House Reception

We planned panels with our alumni and got a chance to meet with you.

And we're so glad you joined us! Everyone started off a little quiet, but the conversations quickly started and you were off.

TRANSOC President Hassan Obeid kicked off the Transportation Seminar seriesby introducing alum Feras El Zarwi who talked about data pricing at UberEATs.

Starting at 3:30 pm on Fridays, many of you sat in 290 Hearst Memorial Mining Building throughout the year to catch up with classmates during cookie hour before seminars.

And talk with professors.and speakers.

Sustainable Aviation Symposium

Some of you took advantage that ITS Berkeley co-hosted the Sustainable Aviation Symposium on campus in October 2019, where aviation innovators and leaders came to campus to speak and interact with our faculty and students.

BDD Fall Workshop

We saw some of you presenting research at the Berkeley DeepDrive Fall workshop.

Annual Martin Wachs Lecture

Many of you joined City and Regional Planning Professor Emerita Elizabeth Deakin at the Annual Martin Wachs Lecture this fall.

Winter Lunch and Awards

We celebrated the end of the year with the TRANSOC holiday party and the ITS Holiday Lunch and Award Ceremony.

Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting

Many of you travelled to Washington DC in January to attend and present at the Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting. This year we had 11 Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellows!

Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting

In between presenting, posters, lectures, and awards, ITS Berkeley faculty, students, and alumni came together to chat over over plantain chips and drinks at Bar Cuba at the ITS Berkeley reception.

Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting

We hope you see you at the next TRB Annual Meeting!

Ambassador of France in the US Visit

For those who didn't go to TRB, ITS Berkeley co-hosted the Ambassador of France in the US, where he talked about Tech for Good: A French vision for the 4th industrial revolution.

Self e-STEM

Some of our students have been volunteering their time and expertise to mentor young girls of Oakland based Self-eSTEM.

Student Seminars

In the Spring semester, students created a student seminar for doctoral students to present their research amongst their peers on Mondays in the library. Mustupha Harb kicked things off in February.

Campus Shutdown

On March 10, in person classes were largely suspended on campus. ITS affiliate Karen Chapple teaches one of the last campus classes, with a majority of her class online. On March 17, the Bay Area Shelter in Place closed campus to all but essential personal.

We may have missed the last two months on campus, the in-person presentations, showcases, get togethers, lectures and seminars, but you did it! Congratulations graduates. We'll come together to celebrate when we can!

May 19, 2020

Congratulations to the class of 2020!

It has been an unusual year to say the least and you finished strong — for that we commend you. This semester's challenges have shown the true grit of University of California Berkeley’s students, faculty, staff, and alumni. You quickly adapted to remote classes and adjusted to attending classes in different time zones. You kept up with your work and research, and you had your campus experience upended. You took these unexpected circumstances seriously and in stride. You made the best of your education and circumstances. Thank you for diligence, we were proud of you as students, and we are proud to now call you alumni.

We know that this is not what you envisioned when you began your academic journey at Cal, and we look forward to the day we can gather together to celebrate your accomplishments at Cal. In the meantime, we want to recognize the achievements and contributions of the many students that help make ITS Berkeley a success. Congratulations graduates, and Go Bears!

See the College of Engineering and College of Environmental Design celebrations for graduates.
