What is your role at ITS, describe your job in four words, and how long have you been here?
I am currently the Deputy Grant Director for SafeTREC’s Community Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Program. I started at SafeTREC in June 2021.
What is your favorite thing about working at ITS?
The people, definitely! I have learned so much from others while here and enjoy hearing about the cutting edge research others are doing.
Where’s your happy place, favorite bay area location?
My happy place is Lake Merritt, I’ve had so many memories with loved ones there and it’s such a jewel in Oakland.
When you aren’t cheering the Bears on, who do you root for/what’s your alma mater?
I’m not much of a sports person, but I will always cheer for the neighborhood dogs when out and about. I’m going to count that as a sport.
What is on the top of your travel experience/destination list?
My partner, friends, and I are currently planning a fall 2025 trip to Copenhagen which is a major bucket list item. I would love to experience the bike infrastructure there!
What’s the latest book you read/latest show you binged/movie you watched/podcast you listened to? (Choose one or two or more)
I love the podcast, Normal Gossip. It’s got just the right amount of drama to pull you in, so it’s become one of my go-to podcasts for when I need to get chores done around the house and need a distraction.
What is your favorite food?
This is a tough question! I’m a hugefoodie and love to cook. I recently went to Cultured Pickle Shop in Berkeley and it was incredible.
If you could become a mode of transportation, what would you be?
I would probably become a decked out steel frame Bridgestone bike from the 1980s, super versatile and almost indestructible.
If you could meet anyone in the world, dead, alive, or fictional, who would it be?
Grace Lee Boggs, definitely.
What’s your most treasured possession?
My most treasured possession is my sewing machine, I spend a lot of my time outside of work on projects with it.
What is a fun fact about you?
I did not learn how to drive a car until I was 29, which is kind of amazing when thinking about the fact that I grew up in Southern California.
