Congratulations to alum Juan Carlos Muñoz (’02) who was named Secretary (minister) of the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications of Chile.
He is a professor at the Department of Transport and Logistics Engineering at the Catholic University of Chile and director of the Institute for Sustainable Development, has a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research and a doctorate in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California (Berkeley).
At ITS Berkeley, Juan Carlos was the first student to receive the Gordon F Newell Award, awarded in 2002. He was advised by Professor Emeritus Carlos Daganzo.
