Amin Earns WTS Woman of the Year

Congratulations to Ratna Amin, ITS Berkeley Senior Fellow and alumna, for being named Woman of the Year Women's Transportation Seminar by the San Francisco and Bay Area Chapter. She will be presented her award at the Annual Scholarships and Awards Event May 22, 2018, 5-9 p.m.

Amin is the Transportation Policy Director at SPUR, the Bay Area’s leading urban policy organization.  Her areas of focus include public transit, land use and transportation integration and systems change.

 In 2014, Ratna published SPUR’s first transportation policy report about Silicon Valley, Freedom to Move. More recently, she published Seamless Transit, an agenda to address the Bay Area's transit fragmentation problem and The Caltrain Corridor Vision Plan. She was named to Mass Transit magazine's "Top 40 Under 40" in 2015.

She earned her dual Masters Degree in city and regional planning and transportation engineering from the University of California, Berkeley

The event will also honor alumna Melanie Crotty with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Crotty, who passed away in November, 2017, was the Director of Operations at the San Francisco Bay Area’s Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and worked closely with the UC Berkeley Institute of Transportation Studies, fostering collaborations between the two, She earned her dual masters’ degrees in Transportation Engineering and City Planning at UC Berkeley in 1993.

UC Berkeley Master of City Planning student Stella Yip, will be awarded the  Leadership Legacy Graduate Scholarship and UC Berkeley Master of City Planning student Rachel Om will be awarded the Helene M. Overly Memorial Graduate Scholarship.

UC Berkeley undergraduate Jennifer Condewill be awarded the Molitoris Leadership Undergraduate Scholarship and Noel (Lily) Pond-Dachik will be awarded the Sharon D. Banks Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship.

Fehr & Peers Dana Weissman will be honored as one of two Members of the Year. She earned her dual masters’ degrees in Transportation Engineering and City Planning at UC Berkeley in 2012.
