Professor Nambisan is a serial entrepreneur in academia. He has more than 31 years of experience including 23+ years leading the development and growth of research enterprises. As PI or co-PI, he has led efforts on more than 180 projects, grants, and gifts with awards totaling more than $75 million. Of note, he led efforts in 2018 & 2020 to prepare two winning applications ($17.8 M in Alabama & $15 M in Nevada) to USDOT’s ATCMTD program to develop & deploy novel/ innovative technology-based strategies to enhance safety, capacity, & travel time reliability. His efforts have addressed a broad range of transportation / infrastructure topics with safety, data-analytics, and policy support being prevailing themes. These include efforts with public- and private-sector leaders, advocacy groups, other stakeholders, and professional organizations to support decision making that span the transportation system life cycle and across modes.
