Dr. Qing Lu is an associate professor in civil engineering and the director of the Resilient Transportation Infrastructure Systems (R-TIS) Program at the USF. Dr. Lu’s research focuses include sustainable transportation infrastructure facility design and management, primarily in road structures, pavement material design, evaluation, and development, and statistical modeling in transportation engineering.

Dr. Lu has published more than 70 peer-reviewed articles to improve the performance of road infrastructure facilities. His recent work addresses road crashes caused by insufficient pavement friction and pavement friction management, emerging challenges in pavement in the shifting environments towards more sustainable, resilient, and environment friendly materials, design, and management.
