Liza Lutzker, MPH (she/her) is a Research Data Analyst with SafeTREC and a doctoral student in epidemiology at the UC Berkeley School of Public Health. Liza earned a BA with majors in Biology and Philosophy from Amherst College and an MPH in Epidemiology from the Yale School of Public Health. She has worked widely across the field of environmental and occupational epidemiology, including at both the Massachusetts and California Departments of Public Health, and for the last 10 years in the Environmental Health Sciences division at the Berkeley School of Public Health. Outside of work, she co-founded and co-leads Walk Bike Berkeley, a non-profit pedestrian and bicycle advocacy organization, and sits on a variety of commissions for the city of Berkeley, including the Transportation Commission and the Reimagining Public Safety Task Force. She is broadly interested in how social policies such as police traffic enforcement or “urban renewal” affect traffic safety outcomes, especially for vulnerable road users like pedestrians and bicyclists.
