Community Partnering Microgrants

It is our pleasure to announce the continued availability of Community Partnering Microgrants offered by the University of California, Berkeley’s Institute of Transportation Studies.

Researchers conducting place-based research or research of vulnerable or disadvantaged populations are encouraged to partner with a relevant community-based organization (CBO) in designing, performing, and disseminating the research, and to compensate them for their work. The intent of these microgrants is to help researchers develop or strengthen relationships with CBOs in advance of specific research projects. This will improve the engagement and contribution from the CBO before the research is defined.

Two types of grants are offered: Exploratory grants ($5,000) and Relationship Building grants ($10,000). Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until this year's funding pool of $25,000 is exhausted. For more information about the program and how to apply, please see the attached Request for Proposals.

These microgrants are one way the Institute honors its commitment to social equity and anti-racism. These microgrants further our ability to partner with community organizations to design stronger and more impactful transportation research and advance our work for understudied populations and locations.
