Dr. Iman Mahdinia is a postdoctoral researcher at the Safe Transportation Research and Education Center (SafeTREC) at UC Berkeley. Before that, he was a postdoctoral research associate in civil and environmental engineering with a concentration in Transportation Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) from 2021 to 2023. He earned his Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering-transportation engineering from UTK and his M.S. in statistics from Haslam College of Business at UTK in 2021. He also received his master’s in Transportation Planning from the Amirkabir University of Technology, Iran, in 2015. His primary research areas focus on traffic safety analysis, intelligent transportation systems, sustainable transportation, and transportation system impacts from emerging technologies, including connected and automated vehicles, automated driving systems, and advanced driver assistance systems on safety, mobility, and the environment. He has published several journal articles and technical reports and presented them at many conferences.
